Progress (/ˈproʊɡrɛs/, PRO-gress) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) mainly in Susquehanna Township but also in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, United States.
When Susquehanna Township was founded in 1815, Progress was the only established settlement in the south end.
Daniel Shell laid out the community sometime in the 18th Century, where it was known by a few names: Jacob's Plains, Mud Town, Shellstown, and finally Progress.
Trolley cars ran along present day U.S. Route 22 until 1936, when the road was widened for increasing automobile traffic.
It is bordered to the east by Colonial Park and to the southwest by the borough of Penbrook.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.3 km2), all land.
