Quadrangular Tower

[1] On August 2, 2001, the building was declared a "national architectural monument" by the Cabinet of Azerbaijan.

[2] The tower was built in the 14th century[1] and was an integral part of the fortress wall and the defensive fortifications in Baku.

The tower was built to store weapons and to further strengthen the northern part of Baku.

[3] In 2014, substantial repair and restoration works were held on the tower by the Old City State Historical-Architectural Reserve Department.

For rapid movement of soldiers, a tunnel continued along the bottom of the wall towards the tower gate.
