R. V. Swaminathan (5 August 1908 – 4 October 1984) was an Indian politician, freedom fighter, and Union Minister.
[1] He began his political journey as a freedom fighter during India's struggle for independence.
[5] During the split in the Indian National Congress in 1969, Swaminathan sided with the faction led by Indira Gandhi.
[6] He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Madurai constituency as an Indian National Congress candidate in 1971.
[8] In 1980, he was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from the Sivaganga constituency[9] and was appointed Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development.
