HAA is one of the largest African-American owned architectural firms in the United States.
Before starting his own firm in 1992, he worked for Detroit architects Smith, Hinchman & Grylls Associates and Schervish, Vogel, Merz P.C.
He was chosen as the recipient through his "ambitious work in hospitality, government and institutional projects, and dedication to the profession and greater world of design.
Hamilton also is committed to the future and prosperity of the City of Detroit, and his leadership in the National Organization of Minority Architects.
