Raj Khurana obtained his primary education from K.K Public School, Rajpura.
Following the footsteps of his father, Raj Khurana started his career as a commission agent in the grain market, Rajpura in 1971.
In this business, he gained great prosperity and also received highest sale awards for an outstanding performance in trading.
Raj Khurana contested his first election to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in 1992 from Rajpura as a candidate of the Indian National Congress.
In 2006, following differences with the Congress leadership, he joined the BJP[3] and was granted the party ticket in 2007, which he won.
