She is a pioneer in introducing Malayalam poems, folk music and compositions of Social reformer Sree narayana guru in her dance choreographies.

She got trained in carnatic music under Mullamudu Harihara Iyer, Perumbavoor G. Raveendranath, Parassala Ponnammal and B. Sasikumar.
