[1] Hubbard is African-American,[2] and grew up in West Chester, Pennsylvania,[3] where her parents had moved from farming communities in Delaware.
[2] Her eventual interest in biostatistics began with a summer undergraduate research program directed by Louise M. Ryan at Harvard University.
[2][4] Her dissertation, Modeling a Non-Homogeneous Markov Process via Time Transformation, was supervised by Lurdes Inoue.
At the University of Pennsylvania, she served as deputy director of the division of biostatistics and a member of the Abramson Cancer Center.
[6] Hubbard joined the faculty of the Brown University School of Public Health as a professor of biostatistics and data science in 2024.
