Rebecca Jones was Head of Archaeology and World Heritage at Historic Environment Scotland.
[1] She then took a position as Director of Alumni Relations[2] before being appointed Keeper of Scottish History and Archaeology at National Museums Scotland in 2024.
Jones studied for an undergraduate degree in Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Newcastle.
[3] In 1999-2000 she worked at Aberystwyth University with Jeffrey Davies, which resulted in the publication of the volume Roman Camps in Wales and the Marches in 2006.
[4] Jones completed her PhD at the University of Glasgow in 2006 entitled "The temporary encampments of the Roman army in Scotland ",[5] supervised by Bill Hanson.
