Richard Bateman JP (29 April 1849 – 5 November 1913) was an English first-class cricketer.
The son of Daniel Bateman, he was born at Farnham in April 1849.
A forage contractor by profession,[1] he made a single first-class appearance for Hampshire against Somerset at Taunton in 1883.
[3] Later in life, he was a councillor on Hampshire County Council for Aldershot East and was a justice of the peace for West Surrey.
He was seriously injured and lost consciousness, which he never regained, dying the following evening at his house in Ash Vale, Surrey.
