Richard Hamilton (mining)

Richard Hamilton (6 May 1855[1] or 29 April 1855 – 16 March 1943) was a mine manager at Boulder, Western Australia.

[5] His younger sister, Mary Hamilton, the daughter, died of diphtheria at the Pegleg Hotel on 4 April 1860, when she was 4.

Three years later he returned to Victoria and took control of the Peel River Proprietary gold mines in New South Wales.

[3] The Hamiltons had a home at 23 Leake street, Peppermint Grove, but in later years he lived in Cottesloe.

He died in a private hospital, Perth, a month short of his 89th birthday, after some years of failing health,[13] and was interred at the Karrakatta cemetery.
