Newman (1955–2000) was a physicist notable for his work in the area of cosmology and general relativity.
He completed his PhD in 1979 at the University of Kent at Canterbury under G.C.
McVittie with a thesis entitled Singular Perturbations of the Empty Robertson-Walker Cosmologies.
He was a research fellow at the University of York 1984-1986.
