Rickreall, Oregon

Rickreall (/ˈrɪkriɔːl/ RIK-ree-awl) is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Oregon, United States.

For statistical purposes, the United States Census Bureau has defined Rickreall as a census-designated place (CDP).

"Rickreal" post office was established in 1851 with Nathaniel Ford as postmaster.

[5] Rickreall was often referred to as Dixie during the Civil War and for some time after, because of the Southern sympathies of the local populace.

[5] According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2), all of it land.

23.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

The Jefferson Institute, located a mile west of the Nathaniel Ford house, was founded in 1846; it closed sometime in the 1850s.
