[2][3] It is the first ever Safari Park in Sri Lanka.

[4] In 2008, construction work of park was started by the direction of The National Zoological Department of Sri Lanka.

The safari park constructed for the expectation of tourism, and estimated cost for the project is 1.6 billion Sri Lankan rupees.

African, Asian, Australian Zones and a small animal kingdom is under construction as the second phase.
