[8] Although he was accepted to West Point Arthur decided not to pursue a military career like his father and instead in 1926 enrolled at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Additionally, Arthur wrote a number of mystery novels for children and young adults.

In 1959, he moved to Hollywood and began writing and editing screenplays and scripts for television shows.
