Robert Brieger (born 21 November 1956)[citation needed] is an Austrian General of the Austrian Armed Forces and the current Chairman of the European Union Military Committee (CEUMC).
Brieger was previously the Chief of General Staff of the Austrian Armed Forces.
[4] In 2024 Der Standard reported that, in response to a false post claiming that German corpses had been dug up at the Rheinwiesenlager and "passed off as Jewish corpses in order to manipulate the number of victims of the Holocaust", Brieger wrote "[a]bove all, it is a concealed chapter in the history of the victors".
[5][6] In 1975, after graduating from high school, Robert Brieger joined the Austrian Federal Army and began his military service.
In July 2018, Brieger was appointed Chief of Staff of the Austrian Armed Forces, succeeding Othmar Commenda.
