Until 2016 he served as the President of the Patristic Institute Augustinianum in Rome, and until 2018 was on the faculty as a Professor of Theology.

He also serves as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Augustinus-Lexikon, a Visitor of Ralston College,[2] and on the Editorial Advisory Council of Dionysius.
[6] Pope Francis named him a member of the Study Commission on the Women's Diaconate on 2 August 2016.
