Robert Gilligan

Robert Gilligan is an American politician.

[1] Elected to the House in 1972, he was the longest-serving member of the legislature at the time of his retirement in 2013.

He became Speaker in 2009 after Democrats took control of the House for the first time in 24 years.

[3] Gilligan obtained a BS in political science from Saint Joseph's College and a MA in education from Villanova University.
