Robert Gordon (RAF officer)

Air Commodore Robert Gordon, CB, CMG, DSO (22 January 1882 – 25 September 1954) was an early British military aviator.

He was educated at Fettes College[1] before joining the Royal Marines Light Infantry as a second lieutenant on 1 January 1900.

[1] He transferred to the Royal Air Force when it was formed in 1918 and after service in south Russia he was awarded a permanent commission in the RAF.

After some time as a supernumerary in 1923, Gordon attended the Senior Officers' Course at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich.

During the Second World War, Gordon returned to duty as the Scottish Deputy Area Commandant of the Observer Corps.
