[2] After the war, Takasugi attended Belmont High School in Los Angeles.

In 1953, Takasugi earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.

In 1959, Takasugi earned a Juris Doctor degree from the USC Gould School of Law.

[2] After law school, he entered private practice in Los Angeles, California from 1960 to 1973.

Takasugi was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 6, 1976, and received his commission the following day.
