Robert Overbury

Sir Robert Leslie Overbury, KCB (26 July 1887 – 11 January 1955) was a British public servant and Clerk of the Parliaments from 1949 to 1955.

[1] Privately educated, Overbury began his career as a third-class clerk in the Royal Courts of Justice.

[2] He was appointed to the Lord Chancellor's Department in 1923 as Secretary of Commissions, and in 1930 became Chief Clerk and Establishments Officer.

[1][2][3] Overbury had been appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath in 1941, and promoted to Knight Commander in 1950.
