She was a member of the National Assembly before becoming the President of the Consortium of Provincial and Municipal Autonomous Governments of Northern Ecuador.
She was the daughter of Ramón Zambrano and Olivia Ortiz, but she became an orphan at the age of two and she came under the care of her grandmother.
She obtained her bachelor's degree in accounting from the Colegio Particular 9 de Octubre educational center.
She obtained a law degree from the Universidad Técnica Luis Vargas Torres [es].
