Rosebery, New South Wales

Rosebery is an inner southern suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.

In 1961, much of the land was purchased by the Rosebery Town Planning Company and developed as an industrial area.

The most common ancestries in Rosebery were Chinese 19.8%, English 17.4%, Australian 14.4%, Irish 9.7% and Greek 8.2%.

The next most common countries of birth were China 10.8%, England 3.7%, Greece 2.7%, Ireland 2.6% and Indonesia 2.3%.

Other languages spoken at home included Mandarin 11.4%, Greek 6.1%, Cantonese 3.2%, Spanish 2.8% and Indonesian 2.2%.

A smaller park is Crete Reserve, situated at the southern end of Rosebery Avenue.

However, the nighttime lighting of Turruwul Park results in a more active night sport scene.
