Rosedale Township was named for the abundant wild roses within its borders.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 136 people, 48 households, and 38 families residing in the township.

The racial makeup of the township was 92.65% White, 0.74% Native American, 0.74% Asian, and 5.88% from two or more races.

20.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

There were 10.8% of families and 15.8% of the population living below the poverty line, including 12.0% of under eighteens and 8.7% of those over 64.
