Rudolf Wachter (born 29 November 1954) is a Swiss linguist and classical philologist.
[1] Wachter studied classical philologie at the University of Zurich (lic.
Between 1991 and 1997 he worked as a lecturer at the University of Basel, where in 1996 he completed his habilitation.
[2] Between 1997 and 2020 he served as extraordinary professor of Greek and Latin linguistics with particular reference of their Indo-European heritage.
[3] In 2006, he became one of the founding members of the Schweizer Orthographische Konferenz [de].
