Rupert G. Miller

Rupert Griel Miller, Jr. (January 31, 1933 – March 15, 1986) was an American statistician known for his work on multiple comparison[2] and jackknife resampling.

[3][1] Miller was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and attended the Hill School.

[4] He graduated from Princeton with a BSc in mathematics in 1954 and moved to Stanford University to continue his study.

His students include Bradley Efron and Nancy Reid,[5] Gabrielle Kelly, among others.

[8] In 1983, Miller was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma and died three years later in 1986 at Stanford, California.
