[1] The idea of forming a club surged due to young people from Castêlo da Maia, Maia meeting up to play football matches.
Gardener Manuel Pereira launched the idea of forming an association, and the club was soon founded afterwards in 1938.
A new football pitch began being built in the 1950s called Dr. Costa Lima Municipal Stadium, later being remodeled in the 1970s.
In the 1960s the club began having volleyball, however years later a split happened creating the Castêlo da Maia Ginásio Clube.
