Salim bin Sultan

[1] Sultan's brother Qais bin Ahmad, ruler of Sohar, decided to attempt to seize power.

Early in 1805 Qais and his brother Mohammed marched south along the coast to Muttrah, which he easily captured.

[2] Allied with the Wahhabis, Badr bin Saif became increasingly unpopular.

Their aunt, the daughter of the Imam Ahmad bin Said al-Busaidi, seems to have influenced this decision.

[6] Around the end of May 1810 Salim bin Sultan was sent on a mission to Persia to seek assistance in the struggle against the Wahhabis in the north of Oman.
