[1] His mother died in 1871 and his father remarried in 1874 to Rosa Lowentritt with whom he had two daughters, Jessie and Minnie.

Two years later, they moved to Euclid Avenue and East 4th Street and added ready-to-wear clothing to the merchandise mix.
