Sammatti

Sammatti (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈsɑmːɑtːi]) is a former municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Uusimaa region.

The municipality had a population of 1,365 (31 December 2008)[2] and covered a land area of 72.01 square kilometres (27.80 sq mi).

It was the birthplace of one of Finland's most famous writers, Elias Lönnrot, the compiler of the Kalevala.
