A Republican, he served in the Utah State Senate from 1905 to 1909 and on the Salt Lake City School Board from 1909 to 1912.
[2] He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1889,[3] then attended the University of Michigan as a member of the class of 1891.
[5] In addition, he was active in numerous fraternal and civic organizations, including attaining the 33rd degree of Scottish Rite Masonry.
[6] By late 1899, he had received his commission and been elected lieutenant colonel of Utah's 1st Infantry Regiment.
[4][5] In November 1911, Park was elected mayor of Salt Lake City, and he served one term, 1912 to 1916.
