Sandaker SFK had been in the top Norwegian division from 1947 until 1949, as well as the second division 1949-1952 and 1957–1961,[3] and continued to operate in the league system of Norway until withdrawing from the 6. divisjon (the seventh tier of Norway) in 2013.
In 2022, Sandaker SFK re-entered the league system and now play in the 10. divisjon (the eleventh tier of Norway).
He could not play for Norway after leaving Sandaker due to the amateur rules of the Norwegian national team, and the professional nature of the Italian and Swiss leagues.
In 1961, Sandaker SFK merged with a nearby club, Åsen Sportsklubb.
Åsen SK had organised junior football and handball tournaments in the 1930s.
