She married Nand Kishore Arya , a Provincial Civil Servant (PCS) of the state Uttar Pradesh in the year 1980.
[1] Sarita Arya became an MLA for the first time winning the 2012 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election representing Indian National Congress from the lake city Nainital.
[2][3][4] In 2012, the Indian National Congress bagged this seat after a long gap of 23 years.
The seat was either with Uttarakhand Kranti Dal or Bharatiya Janata Party starting from the year 1989 until she won in the assembly polls of 2012.
[6][7] She is the District President of AIWC (All India Women's Conference) in 2009 and held the post till 2020.
