Sarkar (Hindi: सरकार, Urdu: سركار, Punjabi: ਸਰਕਾਰ, Bengali: সরকার also spelt Circar)[1] is a historical administrative division,[2] used mostly in the Mughal Empire.
A sarkar was further divided into Mahallas or Parganas.
