Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute

Named after renowned Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray, the institute provides higher and professional education and technical expertise in the art and technique of film-making and television production.

Established in 1995, the institute is an autonomous society funded by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.

[2] It has been named after acclaimed Indian film director, Satyajit Ray.

[3] The first session began on 1 September 1996, while Dr Debasish Majumdar joined as the institute's first director in 1997.

[1] On 2 September 2024 On UGC recommendation The Institute has received a Letter of Intent from the Ministry of Education to fulfil the requirements for Deemed to be University status.
