[3] The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2016, for his contributions to trade and industry.
[6] In 1989, he founded IIS Infotech Limited, an IT company and served as its chairman till 2001, oversaw its merger with Xansa, the British BPO, in 2000[7] and served as the executive chairman of Xansa India till 2006.
[13] He also serves as an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
[14] He has received a doctorate (honoris causa) from the University of Wolverhampton and is a recipient of the IT Excellence Award of the Prime Minister of India.
He is also a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
