Saw Swee Hock

Saw Swee Hock HFLSE (Chinese: 蘇瑞福; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: So͘ Sūi-hok; sometimes written Saw Swee-Hock) (1931 – 16 February 2021)[1] was a Singaporean leading expert in statistics, population, and economics, and was a noted philanthropist.

He was a professorial fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore and a member of the NUS board of trustees.

His largest reported donation was of US$24 million in 2011 to his alma mater, NUS, to establish the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health.

[5] Swee Hock’s contributions to the field of education include an endowment in 2004 to establish 12 annual bursaries for students studying for MBAs.

[8][2] He was married to Dr. Cheng Siok-Hwa, who was a faculty member of the Department of History at NUS and has published numerous books in her own right;[9] the couple also co-authored various publications.
