[3] For many years, Scotchy Pocket was served by Kadina railway station (26°01′36″S 152°33′37″E / 26.0268°S 152.5604°E / -26.0268; 152.5604 (Kadina railway station)),[7] but it was eliminated during a 1990s realignment to reduce curves and increase speeds.

[8][3] The land use is predominantly grazing on native vegetation with some crop growing (mostly near the Mary River).

The school closed in 1920 due to low student numbers.
