Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz

Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz is an Iranian University in Ahvaz, Khuzestan, Iran.

By the ISC ranking, Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz was 13th largest and top university in Iran in 2015.

The campus today has 276 acres (1.12 km2) and houses 13 colleges.

[3] In 1982 the university was renamed to "Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz" to commemorate Mostafa Chamran.

[citation needed] In 1986, under national legislation, the Schools of Medicine, Health, Dental, Nursing, and Pharmacy, separated off into an independent Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, operated under the supervision of the new Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

Soon after the founding of Jondishapur University, Talat Basari was appointed vice chancellor of the university, the first woman to reach such a post in any university in Iran.
