The racial makeup of the township was 70.08% White, 23.72% African American, 1.68% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 3.74% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races.

13.20% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.50% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
