Shawn Ginwright

Shawn A. Ginwright is Professor of Africana Studies at San Francisco State University and author.

His research examines the ways in which youth in urban communities navigate through the constraints of poverty and struggle to create equality and justice in their schools.

[1] Ginwright earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Education at the University of California at Berkeley in 1999.

He completed his Master of Arts in Communication at San Diego State University in 1992, and he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication at San Diego State University in 1989.

[3] Ginwright has also been openly critical of Oprah Winfrey and Bill Cosby for their comments that "further demonstrate class warfare taking place within the Black community".
