Shelter Island Heights is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the Town of Shelter Island, in Suffolk County, New York, United States.

It is located on the north side of Shelter Island, surrounding the village of Dering Harbor.

[3] At the 2000 census[4] there were 981 people, 459 households and 302 families residing in the CDP.

The racial makeup of the CDP was 98.17% White, 0.31% African American, 0.41% Asian, and 1.12% from two or more races.

29.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 20.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
