Siechnice

Siechnice (Polish pronunciation: [ɕɛxˈnit͡sɛ], German: Tschechnitz,[2] [ˈt͡ʃɛçnɪt͡s]) is a town in Wrocław County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland.

[5] Between 1323 and 1810, the village was owned by the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star, whose symbol is depicted in the town's coat of arms.

[5] In 1909, it gained a railway connection with the Silesian capitals Breslau (Wrocław) and Oppeln (Opole).

[5] During the Nazi era, the settlement was renamed from Tschechnitz to Kraftborn, in order to remove traces of its Polish origin.

[6] Shortly after the war it was renamed Czechnica, the name its power plant holds to this day, and later to Siechnice.
