The principal towns in the district are Bishalgarh, Bishramganj, Melaghar and Sonamura.

They are Bishalgarh, Charilam, Nalchar (formerly Melaghar), Mohanbhog, Boxanagar, Kathalia and Jampuijala[3] According to the 2011 census, Sipahijala district had a population of 479,975.
