The following year, in 1837, William Lutsey built the first frame house.

The central portion of the township is made up of homes, businesses, and farms.

The township's southern border is mostly made up of thick forests.

At the 2000 census there were 1,112 people, 419 households, and 321 families living in the township.

21.2% of households were made up of individuals, and 12.2% were one person aged 65 or older.
