Soeparno (11 December 1922 – 2000) was an Indonesian military officer and politician who served as the mayor of Surabaya, East Java between 1974 and 1979.
Prior to his government career, he had studied and worked as a teacher before joining in the Indonesian Army, as part of the Brawijaya and Mulawarman Regional Military Commands.
[1] He received education in a Schakelschool [id], graduating in 1937 before enrolling at an auxiliary teachers' school for natives (Hollandsch Inlandsche Kweekschool).
[3] After his time in Mulawarman, he was appointed into the People's Consultative Assembly in 1972 as a regional representative for East Kalimantan, with the rank of colonel.
Sunandar had assessed Soeparno's tenure in Surabaya as insufficient, with the issue of traffic, flooding and industrial development still unresolved.
