Sonni Gwanle Tyoden (born 22 September 1950) is a Nigerian professor of political science, educational administrator, and politician who served as the deputy governor of Plateau State from 2015 to 2023.
[3] He obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc) and a Doctorate (Ph.D) Degree in International Relations and Political Economy from the University of Lancaster in the United Kingdom.
[4][5][6] Tyoden began his career in 1978, as an Assistant Secretary to Plateau State Government Ministry of Establishment.
[7] After Tyoden became a Professor in 1990, he was appointed, Head of the Department of Political Science, University of Abuja[8] He returned to his alma mater, the University of Jos in 2000, and became Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences in 2001, a position he held till 2005.
[9] He was appointed Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos on 12 July 2006, a position he held until 11 June 2011.
