He is a distinguished professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of California, Irvine[1] and currently serving as the Director of the Center for Hydrometeorology and Remote Sensing.
Besides being a member and fellow of certain places, he was also a chairman for the Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment of the World Climate Research Programme.
In 2010, he became the 4th Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water[7] recipient and was named an honorary professor by the Beijing Normal University.
[8] In 2013, he received the Robert E. Horton Medal from the American Geophysical Union (AGU) for his "outstanding contributions to hydrology".
[9] He was also recipient of the 2017 Ven Te chow award[10] from the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Environmental and Water Resources Institute in recognition of his lifetime achievements in the field of hydrology and hydrometeorology.
