Southern Nash offers Advanced Placement courses in United States History and English Literature & Composition, as well as online calculus AB.

Southern Nash High School is home to one of the largest agriculture programs in the state of North Carolina.

Currently, Southern Nash High School boasts an animal collection which consists of snakes, catfish, tilapia, fire belly toads, crickets, giant millipedes from China, a ferret, a cow, turkeys, chickens, and goats.

In 2012, the boys' soccer team also reached the semifinals of the state playoffs before losing to the eventual champion, Jacksonville High School.
