Southport is a town in Chemung County, New York, United States.

[2] The town is located in the southwestern corner of Chemung County and is southwest of the city of Elmira.

As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 11,185 people, 4,189 households, and 2,890 families residing in the town.

There were 4,353 housing units at an average density of 93.6 per square mile (36.1/km2).

26.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
