Spartak Akhmetov

Spartak Galeyevich Akhmetov (Russian: Спартак Галеевич Ахметов, Bashkir: Спартак Ғәли улы Әхмәтов, born 8 June 1949[2]) is a retired[3] Russian politician who was a member of the 5th State Duma.

Between 1970 and 1986, he held engineering and management positions at Sterlitamakstroy and Vostokneftezavodmontazh trusts.

From 1986 to 1987, he was a second secretary of the Sterlitamak City Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

In 1987–1992, Akmetov served as chairman of the executive committee of the City Council of Sterlitamak.

On 2 December 2007, Akmetov was elected as a United Russia deputy to the State Duma.
